Carrum Downs Dental Group Government Schemes

Dental government schemes

No one should ever have to hide their smile since there are embarrassed by it. Unfortunately, this is the reality for millions of people across the globe. One of the main reasons a majority of people fail to keep up a beautiful smile is the cost associated with dental services. According to statistics, approximately 14% of adults avoid visiting the dentist for different dental services due to the cost. At Carrum Downs Dental Group, we are well aware of this fact, and that is why we always strive to offer our patients the most affordable dental services. At the moment, we support quite a number of government schemes and provide patients with dental treatment eligible under these schemes, as discussed below.

        1. Child Dental Benefits Schedule

Thanks to the Australian Government CDBS program, Carrum Downs Dental Group can bulk bill treatment costs for eligible kids. Your child can claim up to $1000 for basic dental services over a space of 2 calendar years.
To be eligible:

  • The child must be between 2 – 17 years
  • Must be eligible for Medicare
  • Be part of a Family Tax Benefit part A or in Australian Governments payments such as Youth Allowance, Disability support pension, ABSTUDY, Career Payment, Special Benefit, Double Orphan Pension, and Veteran’s Children Education Scheme (if the child is over 16).

The services provided under the CBDS program include:

  • Dental checkups
  • X-rays
  • Fissure Sealing
  • Cleaning
  • Root Canal Therapy
  • Fillings
  • Tooth Extractions
  • Partial Dentures

Note that if you use the full amount in the first year, you will leave no funds for the second year. However, if you don’t use the amount within the two years, you can’t use the remaining funds later.

       2. Department of Veterans Affairs Card Holders

At Carrum Downs Dental Group, we appreciate the sacrifice our veterans made for their country and are pleased to offer dental care to Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA) cardholders. Patients who have received these vouchers from a community health center are eligible for government-subsidized general dental treatment at our private clinic. We provide a range of benefits such as:

  • Dentures
  • Routine cleans
  • Fillings
  • X-ray

As a DVA holder, you enjoy the benefit of subsidized dental services at no out-of-pocket expenses. Better yet, gold cardholders are eligible to receive free dental treatments as outlined by the DVA dental schedule. This will include general dental services such as filling and crowning of teeth and construction of dentures. However, for white card holders, dental treatments can only be provided if they correlate to your disabilities. The clinicians at Carrum Downs Dental Group are registered with the Department of Veteran Affairs.

Be sure to mention you are a DVA cardholder at the time of your booking to ensure that reception staff can process your claim.

        3. Victorian General Dental Scheme

Our clinic accepts Victorian General Dental Scheme voucher holders. Patients must bring the voucher from a community health center to their appointment. Patients with these vouchers will pay little to no bills on general dental treatment at our private clinic. So be sure to bring the voucher with you to the appointment.

        4. Victorian Denture Scheme

Carrum Downs Dental Group accepts patients who have a current Victorian Denture Scheme (VDS) for denture treatments. Victorians who are eligible include:

  • Live in Victoria and holder of Health Care Card
  • Holder of concession card or dependent on concession cardholders.
  • People aged 18 years and above who have a pensioner concession card or dependent on holders.
  • Hold a Veteran Gold Card issued by the Department of Veterans Affairs
  • All young people who depend on the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH)
  • Anyone in youth justice custodial care
  • refugees and asylum seekers

Certain groups of people who are eligible for public dental services may be granted priority access. These groups include pregnant women, homeless people, and registered clients of disability services, children, and young people.

        5. Victorian Emergency Dental Scheme

Carrum Downs Dental Group has ensured no matter the health provider you choose; you will be accepted by us. We accept all patients who have a valid Victorian Emergency Dental Scheme form. We cater to all your dental needs, from finding the best treatment options for your needs to improving your oral health and hygiene.
